Origin of Phrases - T
Tit for tat
Meaning: To reciprocate in kind.
Example: In most political campaigns, once the mud slinging starts, it becomes a game of tit for tat.
Origin: Derived from the German phrase "Dir fur Dat", or this for that. I used to know someone called "Tat" simply because of this phrase: his mother wanted to breast feed him (honestly!)
